Andrew Raycroft.
Come on now, the Bruins were nothing last year and he has one of the lowest goals against average as well as save percentage.

Where's Trent Hunter? He deserves to be on there over Eric Staal and Nathan Horton.
He'd be my choice.

Of course I am biased towards Trent Hunter, but it is justified because he is a great player.
BTW, this is his first year. He played around 5 games or something like that last year and 4 games in the 2001-2002 playoffs against Toronto. He is still considered a rookie by NHL Standards and will be a serious consideration for the Calder Trophy.

Yes, Trent Hunter is still considered a rookie....and he's a good one.

I went with Ryan Malone, yes I am a Penguin fan, however if you take a look at the team he plays on he would be the best all around rookie in the NHL.

Ryan has over 20 goals this year playing without ANY supporting cast to speak of. He does deserve the Calder.

Exactly, Raycroft turned the Bruins around! Heck he wasn't even supposed to be the starting goalie this year. He was their third string goaltender last year behind John Grahame and another goalie, I forget who it was maybe Potvin or Dafoe but wow, he has come a long way in just a year.
The Bruins depend on him thats the bottom line, you can't say Ryder or Malone are key to their teams sucess, can you now?
I rest my case ;D!

I voted for Ryan Malone... he potted over 20 goals with the worst team in the league. He might be a awesome power foward in the years.

Are most rookies KEY to a team's success? Not really. Except when you play goalie and you have no choice..you either play well or the team isn't successful.
Raycroft is having a fantastic year and deserves credit where credit is due. Let's face it, Boston has a pretty good surrounding cast around him, don't you think?
Ryan Malone, on the other hand, has performed well without talented veteran support. He methodically has scored more than 20 goals and has turned into a team leader---all in one season.
Ryan Malone has been consistent in his production and deserves the Calder.
BTW, The last time I checked Boston has been a very consistent franchise the past few years without Andrew Raycroft. The real test is whether or not this guy can lead them to some wins in the playoffs.
My point is this. Boston is a good, solid, talented team from front to back. Raycroft is a good goaltender. It's a fantastic situation for any rookie goaltender and I do not believe that it would have been only exclusive to him. I think there are many rookie netminders who could have flourished in that type of setting.
Malone made a BIG difference to his team when there was very little support for him. Let's keep in mind as the NHL regular season winds up that the Penguins had a pretty good finish. Ryan is a pretty big part of it.
