Aeros phenom Matt Murray
The Houston Aeros punched their ticket to the Conference finals after a hard fought 2-1 victory in game 5 against the Denver Spurs. The Aeros won the series in 5 games, largely to a very balanced attack and phenom netminder Matt Murray . "Murray has exceeded all our expectations" said Wild President and General Manager Terry Maughan " I scouted him when he was in the Soo, and I had to make sure he was an intergral part of the franchise altering move that saw Ryan Miller and picks being sent out" Other pieces of that trade have been instrumental in the road to the ASHL cup with Pontus Aberg leading the Aeros in scoring with 12 points through 9 games.
This has been a great learning experience for recently appointed Aeros General Manager and Wild Assistant GM Dan Ramage. Ramage took over the Aeros officially after game 2 and was asked about his experience so far " Well, its been fun to say the least" said Ramage, " I wanted to make sure I looked over the roster and learned about all the talent we had before I got down to business and made changes, I am just glad they have worked or Terry would whoop I disagree " Ramage said with a chuckle. " I was honored when Terry asked me to join the team, and I think with both of our experience and knowledge it will be a very successful partnership for the franchise. Right now we are focused on an ASHL cup, and if we continue to play this way in 8 more wins we will have successfully done so, so we have to keep getting better every day" said Ramage.
The Aeros next opponent is unclear at this time with the St. Louis Gears and the Louisville Thunder battling it out, and when we asked GM Ramage if he preferred an opponent he had this to say "Whoever we face in the conference finals we will have to respect regardless, it will be a great series and we can't take either opponent lightly. As a competitor you want to face the very best, so whoever makes it to face us will be more than a worthy opponent and we can't wait to see who it is"
Can the Aeros reach the ultamite goal? 8 wins down 8 to go, we can't wait to find out , its going to be a heck of a ride!
Until next time
