Binghamton, NY - In a night of firsts, at least from a General Managerial standpoint, the Binghamton Senators seemed to listen to the Press Conference of new General Manager Anthony Curatolo. The B-Sens came out, guns blazing and tamed the Hurricanes in a 6-1 drubbing over the club from Miami.
Entering the night, the Hurricanes seemed to be a team that played the B-Sens tough with a win earlier this season as well as forcing an overtime game. Last night, it was a different story. Zach Hamill led the way for the B-Sens, who scored early and often and never looked back. Hamill, who tallied four points on the night, now has 64 points on the year in only 60 games played.
"Zach knows whats at stake each and every night he comes to the rink, and tonight, he showed why he plays where he does for me" said coach Reirden. "The building was rocking and the boys fed off the energy, which was placed only on top of the new energy they seemed to have heading out on the ice right before puck drop. There was a fire in every players eyes tonight" he added.
Chad Johnson, getting the nod between the pipes, made 30 saves on 31 shots in the victory. "I felt good out there. There seems to be a new energy that has come over the boys in the locker room and it's carried out on the ice. It's always an easier game when the guys in front of you are eager to get out there and win" said Johnson on the victory. His record improved to 22-14-5 on the year.
The victory kept the B-Sens in the seventh slot of the Eastern Conference ASHL standings.
Up next for Binghamton are the pesky Sound Tigers from Bridgeport, who the B-Sens hold a 2-0 record against this season.
With the playoffs nearing, it's all about keeping the consistent flow of winning for this club. They also know how heavily the eyes of newly appointed GM Curatolo rests on them.
