In shocking fashion, Manitoba defensively took care of AsHL league leaders, Oakland Seals. In a series were many thought Manitoba was out of their league, somehow managed to get 4 straight wins. Manitoba had scored 11 goals total in those 4 games while only allowing 5 against. “When the first game was played we knew what we could do. We set out and just did it. Right now the team feels like taking on the world,” says Keith Kinkaid.
“Keith has been crazy good in net this series. We hope he continues his fine form. He had a bit of a bump in the road, but so did the team. With the teams winning streak (including reg season) set at 9 games at the moment, the excitement is really high, we cannot wait to get back on the ice and continue winning games,” commented by Captain Colin McDonald.
Manitoba has a little while before seeing who the next opponent is in the 2nd round of the AsHL playoffs. However, Manitoba understands that whoever they play will be ranked higher then Manitoba. But, what Manitoba lacks in ranking, certainly makes up in other areas. “We are in the next round that is all that matters. There are certain teams we would like to face. Think of it as payback for whatever happened in the regular season. Either way we will try our best to advance into future rounds,” commented GM Brian Decker.
Manitoba will certainly have their work cut out for them. Being an 8th seed in the playoffs can be a bit tricky, having less home games can strain a team’s confidence. Only in the next round can we accurately determine the strength of Manitoba. But, the team is definitely one to not forget or take lightly.
