Manitoba Moose took on Halifax for their final game and final home game of the season. With a win Manitoba would have made the playoffs. They won in convincing fashion, 7-0. “It came down to the wire again this season. It has been a rough yet satisfying season, but it is not over just yet,” Says Captain Colin McDonald.
Manitoba looks set to face–off against Seattle Thunderbirds or Oakland Seals (depending on Aero’s game outcome) in the first round of the post season. Manitoba will not be getting any help from Chicago, sources close to the team have stated. Both clubs will be going to fight in the post season this year. Not much will be brought up and sent down for either club. “We have to stick it out with what each team has. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to take one player away from one team and weaken another. Yet push comes to shove it would be Chicago that would get the benefits,” commented GM Decker.
After a horrific part of the season Manitoba lost 10 of 11 games. This streak is by far the longest in GM Decker’s tenure that Manitoba has had. This almost took them out of contention. “We do not know what happened, but the boss’s finger was on the panic button. However, we stuck it out and managed to get on track and win our remaining 5 home game stand. Pure nuts,” says Drew Shore.
From last night’s game, and today’s free practice, the atmosphere in the rink is high. It certainly helps out when your team scores 7 goals and nabs a shutout for the rookie goalie. This will help out Manitoba face-off in the playoffs for sure.
