BRIDGEPORT- The Sound Tigers announced the signing of Philippe Lefebvre on Monday afternoon, agreeing to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with the forward worth $350K per season.
"Adds some depth to our organization, for sure," General Manager Chris Hessel said to us in a text. "He's a guy we're interested in adding to the mix, see what he can provide."
Hessel actually pointed out that this was the first move under new Assistant General Manager Sean Croft. It was Croft who pushed for Hessel to negotiate with Lefebvre's agent, after going through an initial feeling out period in the past week with his new responsibilities in Bridgeport.
Croft and the Tigers issued a press release to announce the signing.
"I'm very excited to have worked with Chris on adding Philippe Lefebvre to our lineup. He brings outstanding discipline, and solid defense to our organization. He gives us depth at left wing, and we believe that at his age, he can further develop into a valuable asset for our team moving forward. I also believe, given the current skid that our Bridgeport squad is on, that he will push the other players to their fullest potential. Suffice to say that we expect more from our teams, both in the NsHL and the AsHL. If we see an opportunity to make the team better, we will jump all over it. I think Philippe does that for us, and I'm very happy to have him here."
Sounds like Mr. Croft is sure getting the hang of this GM thing, even when it comes to minor signings. Croft's line shuffling brought the Tigers a win in their last game. We'll see how he decides to work Lefebvre in going forward.
