Toronto, ON - The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that they were unable to get winger Hugh Jessiman under contract. The club thought they had a deal in place with the player, but he surprised them by signing instead with Zagreb of the KHL.
"We were looking forward to bringing Hugh back, but his departure simply creates an opportunity for a younger player," said GM Jade Graber.
With the free agent frenzy just around the corner there is the possibility the club may seek a veteran winger to replace Jessiman on the Marlies.
"No comment," said the GM.
