Toronto, ON - In spite of being outshot 117 - 99 in the last three games of the series the Toronto Marlies outscored the Norfolk Admirals 14 - 3. Goaltender Eddie Lack's .974 save percentage in those three games allowed the Marlies to open things up offensively as they poured it on to take the series in five games.
One night after having every player in the lineup score at least a +1 the Marlies went back to being more of a two line team today, although it was the first and third lines that did most of the damage.
Christian Hanson picked up two goals and an assist while skating on the third line, while Jeremy Williams picked up a goal and two assists to lead the first line. But both players were quick to give credit to all of their teammates.
"Everyone has stepped up their play through the playoffs. We juggled the lines after game one to balance our scoring, which has meant getting used to new linemates after playing all season together in some cases, but we just are jelling at the right time," said Hanson.
"Everyone from Eddie out has been terrific," added Williams.
Coach Jim Schoenfeld was extremely pleased with his club's efforts, especially in the last two games. "The score has not been flattering to the Admirals, but they put up one hell of a fight. Lucky for us we had Lack in there standing on his head and our d-men cleaning up after him. The Ads deserved better, but we'll take the win for sure."
The Marlies will face the Chilliwack Bruins who also won their series today in the third round.
