Toronto, ON - The Toronto Marlies added another offensive weapon with the addition of Hugh Jessiman from the Regina Rebels. The Marlies parted with tough winger Zac Rinaldo and prospect Morgan Ellis. Some draft picks exchanged hands which will help the parent Maple Leafs to plan for the future, but this deal helps the Marlies now.
In Jessiman the Marlies get a winger who is on pace for a 20 goal season. He will audition on second line in the place of Christian Hanson, but could easily drop to the third line to add more punch.
"We have been sagging a bit, but nowhere near as badly as the Leafs have. We asked for a little help rather than seeing what happens like the big club did, and we received," said a pleased coach Jim Schoenfeld. "Hugh is a veteran who plays a solid two-way game and will create a bit more offense than Rinaldo did. Zac's a good kid, but we needed more offensive push-back."
Morgan Ellis is a good young prospect that was expected to join the Marlies next year. He is big, solid, and makes a good pass out of the zone.
"We really like Morgan and have been happy with his development, but with several good young defensemen ahead of him we felt he could buried. We wish him and Zac luck with the Rebels and Avalanche and thank them for their hard work with our organization," said GM Graber.
