Wilkes Barre, PA - The Toronto Marlies extended their winning streak to 9 games this morning with a shootout win over the Pens. Paul Szczechura for the Marlies and Kyle Clifford of the Pens exchanged goals as each teams' third shooter before Toby Peterson beat Ryan Munce. Jack Skille had the chance to extend the shootout, but Eddie Lack came up with a key save.
The Marlies did not turn in their best effort. They were outshot 38-35 and let the Pens tie the game on a goal by Garnet Exelby with 30 seconds left and Ryan Munce on the bench for an extra attacker. The Marlies got goals from Toby Peterson and Brett Sterling while the other Pen goal came from Jack Skille.
The Marlies have won 7 of their 9 games in the streak during regulation time. The club lost Christian Hanson to injury for the second time this season, this time with a knee sprain that should keep him out for a few games. Coach Jim Schoenfeld said that Steven Zalewski will move up to the second line and Peter Leblanc will get back into the lineup and fill his spot on the third line when they face the Norfolk Admirals.
