Charlottetown, PEI
Tonight PEI has finally broken their SO goose egg by beating Conference leading Halifax Citadels 3-2 in SO. Coming back to PEI is Drayson Bowman who scored the opener of the game in the first period. The goal was assisted by Krystofer Kolanos and T.J. Galiardi. “Bowman has been having a tough go after being sent back down from the Phoenix Coyotes. When he left us he was on a high leading the team with 11 pts in 7 games played. Since coming back down he has managed 4 pts in 9 games played. With this recent goal and pts in the past couple games, his motivation has been coming back. Now he has been put on this favorite 2nd line slot with Matt Frattin and Patrice Cormier, he has start to score and will do so like he did in the beginning of the season, he is too fantastic of a player!” says AGM Brian Decker
The team has been struggling with their shootouts this season. Before today’s game the team managed to play in 4 shootouts and win none of them for a 0-4 record. Today, however, the team decided to switch it up in the shootout line-up…and it worked. This reporter quoted PEI’s coach, saying, “I can honestly say I did not expect to get into too many SO’s this season. Because of that thought, we found ourselves losing each SO that we came across. That was my mistake and it will not happen again. The line-up has been tweaked and we now have our goal scoring near the front of the line-up. This will work. And it already has.”
PEI’s Shootout Line-Up currently has Drayson Bowman leading off first. Then, followed by, Matt Calvert, then Team goal scoring leader T.J. Galiardi in the third slot, followed by Matt Frattin in the 4th slot, and finally last but-not-least Krystofer Kolanos who has been a solid figure for the team throughout the season so far. But, we must not forget the stellar performance that Justin Peters has been putting up for the team. Since his rough start to the season allowing 3-4 goals a game, Peters has lowered his GAA to fewer than 2.30 and posting a brilliant save percentage of .929. “This year has been getting better and better for us and me. I could not be happier. Finally getting the starting #1 goalie slot has really helped me out mentally. I can only look up from here,” says Justin Peters. The PEI’s Coach has assured me that this team will be sticking together for a while. He does not see too many changes coming to the team in the near future. Of course this is the NsHL/AsHL so anything can happen!!
