I just wanted to give a shout out to the awesome efforts of these four teams in the ASHL playoffs.
As the Abbotsford Heat GM, it was a treat watching my team battle all of you in four great series.
Three series went to seven games and only Chilliwack went down in fewer games, taking six games to finally falter. Great games, great series all of you.
Despite making the finals, my team went 15-11, showing just how close those series were. Even the goal differential wasn't to far off, as I outscored the opposition 91-72, or a +19, but I was only a +8 in goals for/goals against over the final three rounds combined.
Eight of the 27 games Abbotsford played went to overtime, including the deciding game in each of the final three rounds. While we were only 2-6 in overtime, we were 2-1 in those three games.
A special tip of the hat to the PEI Frostbite, who took a 3-0 series lead and held on to win game seven in overtime to capture the ACHL crown. Way to go on a great series and a great playoffs and it was exciting to see our seasons basically reverted back to the school yard days as a kid, where the phrase "next goal wins" was never more meaningful.
Also, a huge round of applause again to the Rochester Americans. I believe our third round series was arguably the best series I've seen in about 13 years in sim hockey. Seven games, four going to overtime including games six and seven, and six of the seven games were decided by one goal. The only game which wasn't decided by one goal was game four, which I won 3-1, but the game was actually 2-1 until I scored a goal in the final minute. Close was not enough to describe that series.
I'm greatful to have had this run and I hope all three of you the best of luck in the future and hope to have another great playoffs next year. Job well done gentlemen!
