PEI, Canada -- This two and a half hour game should have been called "The Drayson Bowman Show." In the 5-2 drubbing of the Kansas City Chiefs, Bowman accounted for 2 goals and 2 assists and finished with a +4 with a game high 6 shots. The second line did the most damage for this team. This will undoubtedly show the teams depth as they scored 5 goals with none of the first line players getting points. All three finished with a -1 each.
"We're gonna roll with the same lines again on Monday. Our team has been instructed to not take their foot off the gas in this or any series."
That is some good news. Last year's quarterfinals match-up against Halifax started out with a bang by winning the first three games of the series. The ending, however, failed PEI as they dropped four in a row to lose the series.
"We are not taking Kansas City lightly. They got out to a lead by a pair of goals by Kyle Calder at the end of the first with a pair of assists by Mathieu Perreault. They have some good depth players in Letestu (second line) and Marcus Kruger (third line). By spreading their players like that it makes it tough to shut down those players. But it seems to have worked for the day."
PEI also seems to have tremendous confidence in their blue-line as all six patrolling the blue-line logged over 18 minutes each.
"We want to keep our D fresh for the long haul. We do not want to tire anyone out this early. When you have a D corps. like this, its easy to not overload them."
Dave LeNevue also made 37 saves on 39 attempts. LeNevue has been the backstop for most of the year, taking a break every now and then to let Justin Peters give it a go.
"LeNevue is our goalie for the playoffs, but if something were to happen, we have a very capable backup in Peters who could just as easily take us to the championship."
