Louisville, KY.- Last season Matt Beleskey scored 1 goal and assisted on 7 others in the 45 games that he played in while playing for the Ducks. His respectable +1 indicated that the hard working, blue collar, left wing was clearly not a liability while on the ice, however, regardless, the rookie from Windsor, ONT. was sent to Louisville late in the year.
While ending the 2010-11 season in Louisville, Beleskey put up 25 points in 37 games, but ended up a deplorable -18 while playing top line for the Thunder. "Matt was not the problem, the system was the problem," Owner/President/GM Mark told reporters when asked. "We had serious personnel issues that needed addressed and I believe that we handled that successfully in the off-season," Kopsack added. "Matt is a very talented, hard working player who we expect a great deal from. It was important for him to gain the minutes necessary and to hone his leadership skills at a young age, as these things will prepare him for his extended stay in Anaheim in the not-so-distant future," Kopsack added.
This season, Beleskey is off to a blistering start, scoring 11 goals in the first 8 games, and is, perhaps proving, that he is ready for the NsHL. "We want Matt to have as much time in Louisville as he possibly can this year, in hopes of adding continuity and a perhaps some playoff experience to his resume," Kopsack said. "We look forward to getting a well rounded role player when Matt eventually gets the call up," head coach Peter Loviolette said.
