Quebec City, QC - The Toronto Marlies rolled into town knowing that a single point would clinch a playoff spot, and they came away with two after downing the Rock 5-2.
Brett Sterling opened the scoring just 6 seconds into the game and the Marlies were up 4-1 by the end of the first period. The Rock settled down in the second period and managed to keep the Marlies off the scoreboard. In the third the two clubs exchanged goals, but the Marlies controlled the entire game outshooting Quebec 39 to 16.
Sergei Bobrovsky, who has struggled in recent starts had an easy night and looked like he may be coming out of his funk. `Bobber`s had a hard time adjusting to the travel at times, but he has been everything we had hoped and more,`said coach Jim Schoenfeld.
The Marlies travel into Richmond to take on the Devil`s farm club tonight. The Marlies will have a different look to their lineup as Jeremy Williams and Casey Wellman are being rested as a precautionary measure after leaving last night`s game with minor ailments. `Both guys could go today, but Levi Nelson and Thomas Beauregard have been practicing hard and deserve a chance to play, so we`ll give Casey and Jer a chance to get back to 100%,`said Schoenfeld.
