Toronto, ON - The Toronto Marlies absolutely stonewalled the Abbotsford Heat tonight in what will go down in history as one of the best defensive games ever played. The Heat managed a grand total of 4 shots on net in the entire game - two in the first period, and two in the last. The Marlies did block 12 shots, so it wasn't quite as lopsided as one might imagine, but when you consider the Marlies had 32 shots and another 4 blocked, you know where most of the play took place.
The Marlies got two goals from Toby Petersen in the first and third periods, and another from Jeremy Williams in the third to down the Heat 3-0. But the story was what didn't happen at the other end of the ice.
"I know that I have a reputation for leading a somewhat defensive-minded system, but I've never seen anything like this before," said coach Jim Schoenfeld.
"I wait for shot, but nothing come. I lay down for part of second period and watching game from crease," said goalie Sergei Bobrovsky who should be embarrassed to get credit for his league-leading ninth shutout of the season.
"Bobber was solid when he had to be," snickered defenseman Jay Harrison. "But honestly, Bishop probably worked harder opening the gate for us at the end of the bench."
The Marlies have a couple of days off before the Syracuse Crunch come to town on Thursday. Bobrovsky is already a day ahead of the rest of the team.

Awesome post, Jade! It's great to see posts on an AsHL team. I am a big fan of the English by Bobrovsky!
