A win is a win, USA won fair and square.
Thank your goalie, Ryan Miller. And don't wet your pants before the Olympic tournament is over, boys. You haven't won anything yet!

All I have to say is Wow. Miller played awesome for the States. But like I always say, if you going to lose one game, do it in the round robin. It's not over yet, boys. Hopefully, there is a rematch.

Anybody who had Canada as the top team coming into this Olympics was only kidding themselves, a Silver will be an overachievment.
The USA got hot goaltending, and Team Canada got sub parolympic goaltending.

That's for sure, Brodeur was just normal and that's not good enough. Brodeur out, Luongo in.

I just got back from Vancouver tonight, my wife and I went to check out the Olympics. I was able to get some tickets to the Slovakia and Latvia game, we sat in the 8th row behind the net, was an ok game not close at all but the Slovaks had some amazing plays and goals. Anyways I couldn't believe how hostile the us Candians where to anyone wearing USA anything lol. Good job USA, Canada we need to pull up our socks!!!!

A win is a win, USA won fair and square. Thank your goalie, Ryan Miller. And don't wet your pants before the Olympic tournament is over, boys. You haven't won anything yet! Spence, I have to disagree with this somewhat. They haven't won anything tangible yet. They do have the luxury of getting the #1 seed and a bye, but the road ahead is still a challenge. However, they have won a mental edge. I don't think anyone who watched that game last night can say that Canada didn't carry the play. They easily out shot and out chanced the Americans. This is, for the most part, a young group who haven't been in this position before. None of these teams know how they will react if they find themselves "chasing" most of the game. What I mean by that is the other team carrying much of the play. They know that they can compete with, and beat, a tournament favorite, in the most hostile environment they are going to face (unless there is a re-match) while not dictating much of the game. They didn't play a particularly strong game and they beat Canada. There's something to that mentally. However, they have to carry that edge with them going forward. The Americans are in a good spot. I don't expect Belarus to beat Switzerland, which would set up a dangerous quarterfinal game. Should the Americans get past that test again, I'm thinking they will get the Czech Republic in the semis. I don't see Finland beating the Czechs. That game is anyone's guess, but then again you can say that about any game once you hit the quarterfinals. Canada certainly didn't do themselves any favors, but they still have as good a shot as anyone. I don't think they wanted to see Russia in a quarterfinal game, but that's the task now. If they get through Russia, Sweden/Slovakia and whoever makes it to the gold medal game, they certainly will have earned it. I don't think they need to panic either. They controlled the play against both Switzerland and the Americans, but caught great goaltending efforts in both games. They had better be prepared to work against Russia though. I'm thinking it's time to ride Bobby Lu in net now also. It was a big win for the Americans last night. They have to get a couple more though. Should be fun to see if they can.

Come on Spencer, have not won anything yet? Disagree 100%. This is huge step for USA hockey, beat Cananda in the Jrs. and then to beat Canada in Canada for the olympics with such a young team is a huge victory for USA hockey.
Now take it like a man and give props where they are due, no one here is saying mission accomplished for team USA, but the victory is there no matter how much it hurts you.

Listen guys, I am saying it is a major win for USA hockey. Nobody expected you to win, and the fact that you beat Canada in the World Juniors Final and now in the Olympics, I would be very proud if I am an American as well.
What I am saying is, if USA flops in the quarterfinals or the semifinals and doesn't medal, and Canada wins the Gold, this will just be a blip in the radar. At the end of the day, the final standings are all that matter.
That being said, after seeing Miller last night and the consistent Vezina level that he has displayed this year, I think you guys have a very good shot at medalling, and perhaps even making it to the Final.
Let's see what happens when the Olympics are over, that is my point.

^understood Spence but the attitude behind the original statement was atypical of the attitude I've been catching about the hockey and curling competitions all=along from canada. That being that its your medal already and everyone else is showing up to decide second. And that's just not the case. Frankly from the moment I saw the canadian team I didn't like it. Its too uni-dimensional. Its a fantasy team rather then a team. Russia has the same problem to me.

This is our game and always will be. But, from time to time other countries will step up and show Canada that they are their and are not going away. They will keep pushing us and we will respond. It may not happen right away and may take us a few years, but we come back even stronger and more determined. If we lose and get knocked out, we give props where it is deserved. I hope we get a chance to play you guys again, because I know we'll beat you, and if we don't, there is always next time, whether it be the Olympics or perhaps a World Cup.
Hockey, the greatest sport ever, win or lose, the fans are the winners. How about that hit by OV on Jagr, a game changer indeed. That's what hockey is all about. A single moment, a single play that changes the complexion of a game.
