Good Morning,
My name is Mike MacDonald I would like to apply for any GM job openings in the NSHL. I am from and currently reside in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, am 30 years old, and am a die hard Pens fan. Now I know what your saying, "one of those guys who jumped on the Crosby bandwagon." However, that could not be further from the truth. I was born into a Leafs family so I will always have a soft spot for them, but I became a huge Mario fan at about age 7 and haven't looked back. I am currently GM of the Boston Bruins in the Dynasty Hockey League (DHL) since 2007 and took them from the doormat to a tie for the President's Trophy in two seasons. I am currently in the midst of a rebuild where I brought in Marc Andre Fleury, Jeff Carter, and James Wisniewski as crucial building blocks. I am very disapointed with the direction of the league as far too many personal feelings get in the way between a large number of GM's. Most recently, a GM who had been fired a year or so ago was rehired only to repeat the same incompetence and lack of understang and respect that the rules require. He resigned only to be allowed back later that day while there are eager and experienced GM's waiting in the wings. RThe a veteran GM who has not been on the boards as much as he used to be was then abrubtly fired without any real reason and the decision did not come from the commish but rather by a couple of "senior" GM's. Unfortunatley the Commish has lost control of the league and it is being run into the ground very fast.
I sell Volkswagens for a living so I negotiate on a daily basis. That being said, I enjoy closing deals and building my client list. I am not a ball buster when it comes to trades as I have a habit of over paying a small margin for pieces that a want. I graduated from U.P.E.I. (yes we have a University) in 2002 with a double major in English and Political Science. There is no real team I am looking to GM, however I do enjoy taking over a real cellar dweller and turning them into a competative machine. Below is my press statement. I hope to hear from you soon and I look forward to joining the ranks of the NSHL.
Regards
Mike MacDonald
"Earlier today (any team at all) introduced their new Gneral Manager to the throngs of reporters gathered at the teams complex. Mike MacDonald was introduced as the savior of a team in dire need of direction and leadership. Although the conference was light hearted and entertaining, the new boss made it clear he means business. 'My task is simple. Turn this franchise into a winner. Although the task description is simple I do not take for granted the work will be. I do feel we have a coaching staff and management team in place to bring this group to the next level.' MacDonald refused to drop any names of players he feels may be moved, but it is clear changes are needed. 'There has to be an assessment period' he said 'and after that assessment period we will assess the assessment. Is that clear?' Although the conference was brief, everyone in the room was left with a clear message. This team will compete or heads will roll.
