Two weeks into the AsHL season and the Gears are 4-1-2 for the second best record in the Western Conference. The common threads to each victory have been the consistantly outstanding play of the Gears' top line (Stevenson, Tihkonov & Smithson combine for 9Gs, 15As, & are a comined +29) and the netminding of Joel Gistedt. Predicted by most to be the third string goalie this season, Gistedt had an outstanding pre-season. In 5 games this year Joel is 4-0-1 with a sparkling .98 GAA and a save% of .951. What started out as a rotation system may quickly turn into a regular job for Gistedt should his play remaing this strong.
