-- Quebec, QU
In front of a sold out home crowd, the Quebec Rock were able to defeat the Iowa Stars and close out the Calder Cup. The Iowa Stars, who were led by a stellar duo in Lukas Kaspar and Enver Lisin lost out on the Calder Cup for the second year in a row.
The Iowa Stars, however, were in the game for three of the four losses and could have easily won the series if a few bounces went the other way for them. They were a fantastic opponent and my hat goes off to their GM Dan McMullen who is building a very deep organization in Dallas.
Leading the way for the Quebec Rock was their standout goaltender, Jeff Glass who played every minute of every game for the Rock as well as Brian Sutherby and Chad Painchaud up front. Sutherby, who has spent his entire career with the Washington Capitals, earned the Co-Playoff MVP honours along with Rock goaltender Jeff Glass. Sutherby led the AsHL Playoffs in scoring with 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points to go along with a +7 rating. Chad Painchaud led the Rock and the AsHL Playoffs in goals by a widespread with 14 goals.
"This is my first Championshop win in six years in the NsHL. The parity in both the NsHL and AsHL is absolutely unbelievable. It is an amazing feeling and I would just like to think GM Dan Mac for a fantastic series - one that could have gone either way. Secondly, I would also like to thank Nate Kopsack for all his countless time and effort put into running two leagues. It really does not go unnoticed and I am really grateful to be a part of the best simulation hockey league on the internet" GM Spencer Cawker told the media.
This is Fuhs Champeonshep reporting on the Quebec Rock.
