Here is Round 1 of free agency, gentlemen.
Please post your interest to these players as a reply to their individual player capsules. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT POST AN OFFER ON THE MESSAGE BOARD at this stage of free agency, that will come in round 3. Follow your "interest" post up with an e-mailed offer sheet that includes playing time, salary structure, length, and clauses (no trade). Please send all e-mails to:
makopsack@yahoo.com
Remember, the more information that I have the better off all parties are. I will contact you within 48 hours to either negotiate or to let you know that there is better interest elsewhere.
Everyone thinks there team is the best destination for these players, however, I am looking at your line-ups, studying your rosters, and looking at things realistically and very objectively. The NsHLPA wants the overall best situation for each one of our clients.
Questions the NsHLPA will be asking:
Will players on the bidding team's current roster suffer majorly with additon of this player?
Will this player get the playing time promised by the GM?
Has the GM treated free agents well in the past?
How loyal has the GM been to his current players?
Can the team afford to sign these players?
(if the team can't afford to sign such a player that means that in the near future the team talent is going to severely suffer. That will, as a result make my cleint suffer).
Is the fit what fits our clients needs the most?
The team with the best combination of these questions will ultimately be the one who we negotiate with for our prospective clients.
If you view yourself as someone who may not be a positive answer to some of these questions than you better be prepared to bring the suitcases filled with cash this weekend. Even then there is no guarantee.
If you don't get a player that you are after, do not worry Round 2 is loaded as well:
Notable players that are available in round 2, so don't panic:
Sean Burke (G)
Pavol Demitra (C/RW)
Anson Carter (RW)
