Worchester Daily- This time last week the Worchester Ice Cats had everything going for them, the league's leading scorer, a 4 game win streak, & a 5th place Eastern Conference seed. As I write this today, the Worchester Ice Cats have hit a slide, recent poor result have landed them out of the playoff picture, and last in thier division.
"I don't get it", said team captian John Pohl. "I don't feel like we're playing that poorly, everyone needs to tighten up defensively I guess, smarter forechecking, ya know. But over all I don't think we're looking at a non-playoff team here."
The Ice Cats have been the prime example of inconsistency all year. They started out the season looking undefeatable, then went on to play about .500 hockey until the recent games mentioned. Defensive addition Brad Norton has paid off thus far, scoring 2 points in his first 2 games for Worchester, and Chris Corrinett has been called in from Peoria to hopefully add a scoring touch to the Ice Cats game.
The Cats are off tonight. Perhaps the day away from the game will help then get back on track.
