Manchester, NH- With the acquisitions of several key veterans, the Manchester Monarchs appear to be poised to go to the AsHL playoffs for the first time in their brief history. Coach Bruce Boudreau was optimistic about this years Monarch's team.
"We have a nice mix of talent in Manchester this year. We have some young players that could really make a difference this season. We have also brought in some veteran leadership to help bring the young guys along. Our goal is to make the AsHL playoffs and do some damage." said a smiling Boudreau.
The Monarchs signed European veteran free agents Mikko Eloranta and Jiri Dopita for offensive help. "We felt that these two guys could fill leadership roles for the club. They will also influence and help along some of the younger players they will be playing with while they are here in Manchester." said coach Boudreau.
Other players signed by Manchester include defensive defensemen Chris Tamer and Duvie Wescott. "We felt we needed to add a level of toughness to the core of defensemen and these two guys bring it." said GM Nathan Kopsack.
Line combo predictions are as follows:
Surovy-Dopita-Kanko Eloranta-Locke-Hogeboom Steckel-Lehoux-James Welch-Pirnes-Chartrand
D Tamer-Vydareny Wescott-Reirden Rullier-Muir
Hauser/Chouinard-G
Reserves: Huskins and Flinn
Players likely to report to Reading (ECHL):
Nolan, Giuliano, Parros, Gherson, and Nault
The Manchester Monarchs look forward to a solid season of hockey in the AsHL.
