The AsHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that Islanders GM Bob Finley will be the intern GM until further notice. The cost of winning the NsHL Stanley Cup proved to be a heavy price to pay for the Sound Tigers. Late season trades depleted the farm team of such players like Papineau, Weinhandl and Mapletoft leaving Bridgeport with a young, inexperienced squad. The new intern GM added these remarks at a local press conference.
" We are very pleased with the results we have had on Long Island. Because of this, we have lost some of our future and that can not be changed. But I do promise the city of Bridgeport that we will bring in some talent and become the competitive team you are expecting to have. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving the team to a new GM at this time. I fixed the problems on Long Island and I can fix them here in Bridgeport too."
On paper, the Sound Tigers are not going to scare anyone. There are rumors circulating that right wings Mariusz Czerkawski and Arron Asham may start the year in Bridgeport along with defenseman Mattias Timander. Still the talent pool is pretty shallow and changes will follow.
