Canada East faced off against the undefeated Russians to close out the NsHL 2004 World Cup last night. Cnada played a very solid two-way game, they outhit Russian 25 to 16 and outshot Russia 45-29; however, the thing that mattered most (scoreboard) failed to show the kind of game Canada East played.
"We just played our best game of the tournament; however, there was one major roadblock - The Bulin Wall. Each line pitched in, and Vincent Lecavalier and his linemates had a solid night. Jeff Friesen's line also played a solid defensive game and exceeded our expectations," co-GM Cawker said. "It's unfortunate, we shutdown the powerful Russian line and took our A game to them. That is the type of game, that you deserved to win, but this is a tournament and we will have to win in the "do or die" games, especially against our rivals - Canada West. We have a big game, and we will use this week break to regroup from our 1-2 record and hopefully do what we came here to do, win the World Cup," he concluded.
