First of all, I love baseball...so you'll have to put up with baseball threads from me. How about we start with this...
CF Curtis Granderson
2B Placido Polanco
RF Magglio Ordonez
3B Miguel Cabrera
DH Gary Sheffield
SS Edgar Renteria
1B Carlos Guillen
C Pudge Rodriguez
LF Jacque Jones
How's that for a lineup? The Tigers now have arguably the best lineup in baseball. I'm not sure if I'd give them the nod over the Red Sox, but that's pretty d**n good eh? Not bad when you couple that with the likes of Bonderman, Verlander, Rogers, Robertson and Willis in the rotation.
To me this puts the Tigers back on top of the AL Central. I get to piss off all the Yankee fans in this league and say the Yanks are now, in my eyes, the fifth best team in the AL. Boston, Detroit, Anaheim and Cleveland are ahead of the NYY. It gets a little more interesting if the Mariners can actually acquire Bedard.
While I'm often quick to bash all things Yankees, I will say that I am a big time fan of Phil Hughes. I don't understand why the Yanks would want to move a young, cheap, talented arm in Hughes...even for Santana. Just my opinion.
OH...Joe, if you're a Twins fan, I know you'll enjoy watching Delmon Young play ball. He has his issues, sure, but the kid is a stud. I know why the Rays made that deal, but it still sucks to see him playing elsewhere. The Rays have Kazmir and Shields already in place. Sonnanstine and Jackson are good enough to hold down spots until Price, Niemann, Davis and McGee are ready. I do like Garza, but Young is a great talent. Wow...I think I might actually be more excited about the Rays than the Cubs. That's pretty d**n sad.
Alrighty then...back to the original point of this thread. The Tigers are good. Discuss...if you want to.
