GMs,
Some of you may be wondering what the "TEAM STATUS" is on the GM Page of the NsHL website. I would just like to clarify it for you at this time so you have an idea of what it means and its importance to the league. It is NOT a "caste" system of any type or some type of social system. It is more or less a prestige rating, a confidence rating, and how the league home office views your organization.
Before I get into what each of the 3 levels mean, I want to first say that if you ARE a GM in the NsHL, you've undergone a rather comprehensive interview process involving an application process, review of the application by members of the board and possibly a personal interview with the Commissioner of the league. This process attracts many applicants. At minimum, you were chosen for your position with AT LEAST 3-4 other quality applicants vying for the very position you've earned. (We currently have a double digit waiting list with Asst. GMs who are dedicated at the top of it.) You are here because you are an excellent applicant as voted on by the BOD and deserving to be a member of this great league. All of you are the elite in my eyes. So, let us start at the top and work are way...................UP.
GM STATUS: This is the introductory level that GMs enter the NsHL with. It means the above description. You are the elite; the chosen for this fine league. This can be, but not limited to, the beginning or the earlier stages of your quest for success in the competitive NsHL,AsHL, and ECsHL. You are grasping the value of your players, the importance of interaction with other GMs, and learning the rules and regulations of the NsHL. You are not the owner of your team, but are 'renting' it with your time and effort to prove to the NsHL that you are dedicated, knowledgeable, and willing to be an active part of the league. The goal for this level is to get to GM and President status and move forward with the prestige of the league.
GM and President STATUS: This is the median level of the NsHL prestige system. You've rose to this position because you've proved to the NsHL that you understand the value of your players, are active in the NsHL community, and are dedicated to your team and its success. You've most likely made several transactions that have helped your organization gain success or put your organization in a position of on-ice success as well as financial success. You are still 'renting' your team, however, the BOD recognizes that you do understand the holistic NsHL and are given lax restrictions in regards to transactions. You have a minority share in the team. The goal for this level is to obtain Owner Status and move forward with the prestige of the league.
Owner STATUS: This is the pinnacle in terms of your organizational status. To accomplish ownership status, you have mastered the NsHL rules and regulations as well as staked a vested interest in the NsHL. This can involve extensive amounts of time, money, and knowledge invested directly into the NsHL. You are most likely a board member, a founding father, or a member with an impeccable track record of activity, knowledge, league awards, and league wide prestige. You have proven time and time again your dedication to the league, performed countless transactions involving the betterment of your financial and competitive positions with your franchise. You are relentless in the success of not only your team, but the NsHL community. You own your team and its entities. You have full reign of your transactions and financials. Your transactions aren't questioned or reviewed as you know to uphold the integrity of the NsHL, AsHL, and ECsHL, a huge responsibility for someone with ownership status. You are the elite of the elite.
The Commissioner's Office issues prestige ratings according to its own observations as well as feedback from key members of the BOD. These ratings can change from year to year and will be updated again at the beginning of next season.
You are all elite members of the NsHL and the best group I have ever worked with. Enjoy!
