I want to be the first to congratulate all of our award winners for the 2005 season. They are as follows: (with the exception of the NsHL Playoff MVP)
-Rookie of the Year:
Nikolai Zherdev (Columbus)
-Ray Bourque Award (Best Defensemen as voted on):
Zdeno Chara (Ottawa)
-Patrick Roy Award (Best Goaltender as voted on):
Nikalai Khabibulin (Tampa)
-Guy Carbonneau (Best Defensive Forward as voted on):
Brian Rolston (Boston)
Scotty Bowman (Best Coach as voted on):
Colin Campbell (Boston)
NsHL MVP (Regular Season MVP):
Jose Theodore (Montreal)
Colin Cambell Award (For Best GM as voted on by GMs):
Rob Lee (Colorado)
Director's Trophy (To the GM that exemplifies or exceeds NsHL standards of committment and excellence-As Voted on By the BOD):
Dual winners:
Jeff Traver (Boston) Dave Bonkosky (Detroit)
These two were selected for there humorous, factual, and plentiful media posts as well as their extra curricular involvement in the NsHL. (These guys came down for the NsHL Entry Draft and also hosted and played and planned the All-Star game). This award was well deserved by these two individuals.
That award gets harder and harder to give. We had so many good candidates for both the Colin Campbell and the Director's Trophy.
I want to thank all who attended the ceremony last night. I also want to congratulate all of the winners, their teams, and GMs. It has been a great year of NsHL action and I look forward to next season.
Nathan Kopsack NsHL Commissioner
