The NsHL BOD will like to thank every GM who had voted for the All-Star game nominations. We really do appreciate all the effort and participation so far. This is help making this league into the best on the net. But for every good there are bad. We also are imposing a fine of $100,000 for every GM who did not vote. We are not considering this a punishment but as incentive to participate in years to come for all events in the NsHL. Thank You.
The following GM's have been imposed a $100,000 fine
Boston Bruins Tampa Bay Lightning Carolina Hurricanes Columbus Blue Jackets Detroit Red Wings Calgary Flames Colorado Avalanche

does it matter that i didn't have internet connectivity for the two weeks previous to the draft due to a business road trip?
or does it matter that this "penalty" was never announced beforehand?
i think i speak for the other gms that were fined when i say this fine is bunk.
i appeal it, and want to argue against it. It's a small fine, but there's principal in this. and no one ever said this would happen should we not vote.
this isn't communist russia where you make up rules as you go.

I would have to agree. I also never received the all star ballot in my email and kinda just forgot about it for awhile and saw the fine the other day. I am all for full participation but having not received the ballot and not knowing ahead of time that I would be fined sucks. I will not argue with whatever decision you decide on this issue.

No offense, Mr. Kempster...but I haven't gotten lines from you since 12/20. I find it a little hard to believe. Besides, it was posted several times on the message board to get in your All-Star ballots. If you wanted to participate and didn't get the ballots, you would have contacted the league office.
As for the measily $100,000 fine....it is principle. This will not break ANYONE's bank or bankrupt ANY TEAM. It IS principle in that GM's should take pride to participate in an important league event when it arises.
And I know you (DAVE) had internet connectivity several times in that WEEK (not two...embelshing are we?) period that you were away. BTW, where was your ASST. GM while you were away? He could've voted. Delegation is a wonderful thing. I know you had plenty of opportunity. Let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill.
The fine stands and won't break any team. Fines CAN be levied at the discretion of the Finance Committee Chairperson. I stand by his decision.

The Lightning have been very happy with their results since the lines started randomly being put together by the sim. The team has done much better this way then swapping it around each week. The Lightning owner endorosed this method to the GM and coach and the team has produced very well the last month or so, stream rolling up the standings.
The Lightning accept the fine but decided this was a better alternative then another hanging chad episode in Florida. The owner of the Lightning, "We do not vote for anything, we are still upset at the lack of automatic voting machines in Florida. We feel this is our protest of how behind the times we are when it comes to voting technology. My presidential vote was thrown out because of a chad and yes I am bitter still."

The few GMs who did not send in their votes was more of a surprise than anything, honestly. With the tremendous amount of work and the dedication that almost all of the GMs have for the NsHL it was more surprising than anything that some of you didn't send in votes to support your own players.
