I'm making this webpage at 1024 x 768, whereas the current one is set for 800 width. I need as many people as possible to answer this poll. If you don't know your resolution, right click on the desktop and go down to properties and click on the settings tab.

From W3Schools...
2006......Higher.........1024x768.........800x600
July..........19%............... 58%................17% January....17%...............57%.................20%
Also note that in Dreamweaver, if you're using tables, there are options you can choose which will adjust the size based on resolution. Just make sure you are setting the tables to be a % rather than pixels, etc.
The bigger question should be who has broadband and what browsers people are using.

Nice, Nate. This helps a lot. Hopefully most people have broadband, as I have used pngs instead of gifs for transparent images, and may take a second or two to load some of the main images. Although, it'll probably still load faster than the site loads now, so I'm not too worried. I've also been careful to make this site to accompany mozilla and explorer, but one thing I do not know how to do is a site based on percentages rather than pixels, as I have laid this out using pixels. I've looked around the web and most sites use 1024 and pixel tables, and I might just go that route. The minority of 800x600 people will just have to alter their resolution. The real question is: how do you know all these statistics?

Does the site boot up slowly for you as it is now, Gavin?

Object type Size (bytes) HTML: 77785 HTML Images: 398366 CSS Images: 0 Total Images: 398366 Javascript: 720 The site is insanely huge right now Some download times: 28.8K - 184.80 seconds 33.6K - 158.40 seconds 56K - 95.04 seconds ISDN 128K - 29.11 seconds One step is to get rid of that wallpaper image as the background. Changing the side navigation to be text links rather than a huge image would also help with DL times. I'd also try to structure it so that the most used information is 'above the fold'...meaning, make sure the most used links are at the top to prevent the need for scrolling.

ACtually I have broadband at work and it loads in an instant. but at home it loads so slowly that I've memorized where certain links are on the page and don't even bother to let the home page load....

Jeez, Nate. Nice resourcing. BTW, I already got rid of the full image as a background, and tiled a postage-sized image. I can already assure that the site will load faster, and well as have a more detailed look. If we get any problems after I add the JavaScript, then I'll just downsize the team logos. As far as the layout is concered, I'm probably just going to keep the current layout, just for familiarity. Then later down the road, I'll do a more practical layout in a updated version.

why not do the complete update now?
The guys will get the hang of it soon enough. IMO the most important things are where to find the files. the daily games and the standings

I think the goal of this update is just to make the pages functional, and have a slight enhancement/updated look and feel for the page. We want to get this out there quickly so that I don't have to keep changing the url for league leaders If we want to do a bigger re-design in the future, we certainly could...and we could have more input from everyone on what they want to see, as far as the interface and new pages, etc. Rob, I do like your design philosophy of 'the guys will get the hang of it soon enough'. I wish it were that easy in the real world

Well, I've officially dubbed Nate Erb, Jeff Traver, and Rob Lee our NsHL 'Geek Squad'.
It all sounds like Chinese to me but I'm sure you guys collectively can kick some ass on the website.
If you don't mind, I'd like to unofficially brand you three as 'creative control' of the website's look and feel.
Have at it.
