Anaheim, CA.- With the 2023-34 NsHL season at the three-quarter pole and the trade deadline looming, Anaheim Ducks GM Mark Kopsack announced today that the team had made two deals with two different teams.
The first deal involved the acquisition of puck moving veteran blueliner Olli Maata from the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. In exchange for Maata, the Penguins received a 3rd round draft selection and forward Michael Pezzetta. "We were looking to bolster the blueline with some depth and feel we upgraded our blueline depth significantly with Olli Maata," GM Mark Kopsack told reporters. "He does a lot of the little things well and his quality two way play will help our blueline tremendously," Kopsack added.
The second deal sees the Ducks bring in veteran winger Mats Zuccarello from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for defensive prospect Henry Thrun and a 6th round draft choice in 2024. "Mats is the kind of guy you want to have on your team for a playoff run," Kopsack began. "He is a guy that can move up and down the lineup and play both sides of the center position which is incredibly valuable this time of the year."
When asked if the Anaheim Ducks were finished, Kopsack told reporters that he has "All lines of communication are still very much wide open."
