During the 2024 NsHL All Star break the GM's had their mid season meeting, a few of the GM's call this meeting a "Trade Summit."
Ottawa GM Nate Hickerson has been rumored to be unhappy with the roller coaster up and down season that the Senators are having. Hickerson wanted to add to his line up and he did just that by adding veteran cup champion, Joe Pavelski from the LA Kings. The Senators sent defensive forward Mattias Janmark and a 2024 second round pick to the Kings for Pavelski and cash considerations. "We chased Joe pretty hard this offseason, unfortunately things didn't work out and he decided to return to LA. We are very excited to get him into our line up now." GM Hickerson said about trying to sign Pavelski during free agency this past summer. "Joe's skills set will obviously be an upgrade for us but his experience and winning past will be just as big for us." Hickerson added. Coach Paul Maurice said that Joe will slide into the top 6 and join the power play unit as well. "Joe has the uncanny ability to make his line mates better and we have a couple lines that could use a spark. Not sure yet if he will play wing or center to start but he will have the opportunity to create offense with his elite passing skills." Maurice said. GM Hickerson said that there could still be a change or two more happening in Ottawa, so stay tuned as the GM meeting concludes this evening.

The Ottawa Senators clearly had a theme tonight, acquire experience via Cup Champions.
The Senators went out a traded for utility forward Curtis Lazar from the Edmonton Oilers. Lazar won a cup last season in Edmonton and was having a good campaign there again this year. With 11 goals and 26 points so far this season, Lazar will fit right into the Senators top nine. "If you look at all the stats, Curtis is actually quite a remarkable player. He can check and play offense equally well. He has a knack for winning." GM Hickerson said about Lazar The trade saw veteran winger Brandon Saad head to Edmonton as well as a future second round pick and a 4th rounder this year. Cash considerations were also sent to Ottawa along with Lazar. "Curtis' skill set is pretty good but what really jumps out about him is that it just seems like he has the fight and perseverance to succeed and win no matter the situation. He will probably slide onto a line with Jake (Guentzel) and Roope (Hintz) tomorrow night." Coach Paul Maurice said about Lazar.
The Senators are still rumored to be looking for an upgrade on the back end but it appears the GM meeting is pretty much done for this year so expect GM Hickerson to be working the phones into the night.
