The Columbus Bluejackets season has been a complete embarrassment, despite high expectations.
“I’m still at a loss,” said General Manager Greg Stack, “honestly, we’re shocked. I had a meeting with all key organizational management. We discussed what should be done, and ultimately we all agreed that this team needed more time together. We’re going to get it right. We believe the pressure that was placed on Spencer to be our starting goalie was a bit too much, too early. That was my mistake. I’ve rectified it. Jacob is here, he’s going to fill the void left by Tuukka’s departure, and we’ll be able to reduce Spencer’s workload.”
It’s rumored the Bluejackets beat out another Eastern team for the star goaltender.
“Yeah, we have a good idea who else was bidding,” said Stack, “at the end of the day, we were going to beat any offer that Spencer, I mean, any team put out there, as we believe that not only can we salvage the season and make a run for the playoffs, but we believe we can do damage.”
Markstrom will make his debut tonight.
