Sunrise, FLA: The Florida Panthers signed coveted forward Andrei Kuzmenko to a one-year contract, the team announced tonight.
Kuzmenko, 27, was a star in the KHL playing for SKA St. Petersburg. He had 20 goals and 53 points, in 45 games, and had 14 points in the playoffs during his final season. Kuzmenko, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound winger, has extensive experience in Russia playing a total of 315 regular season games and 61 playoff games. He was also part of the World junior championship in Helsinki and won a silver medal.
Kuzmenko brings all-world skating and offensive skills to the Panthers. He joins fellow Russian Evgeni Malkin and playing with Malkin might've been a huge factor on why Andrei agreed to sign with the Panthers. It was believed Evgeni picked up Kuzmenko from the airport today. Obviously, the chemistry on ice between these two will be vital for the Panthers this season.
