Los Angeles, Ca.- The Los Angeles Kings hadn't won a home playoff game yet this season and they were hoping that Game 7 would be MUCH different. In a game that traded scoring chances and lead changes on multiple occasions, the savvy former captain (Joe Pavelski) had yet another trick up his sleeve to send the Kings to the next round.
".....Letang near the right circle.......slings a pass towards the net, shhhot by Van Reimsdyk...(rebound)..SCOOOORE.....IT WENT IN!! IT WENT IN!! Pavelski has given the Kings a Four-to-Three lead! You'd have to be here to believe it!" at the 13:33 mark of the 3rd period- Alex Faust Kings play by play announcer.
The Kings took down their cross town rivals (4-3) with a timely goal from a seasoned veteran who they've leaned on for many years in the playoffs. "Joe (Pavelski) is a consummate King, through and through. He's a battler. He's a pro. He's carrying us to the next round." said coach Rod Brind'Amour. The Anaheim Ducks, whom they have met a time or two before in the playoffs have given the Kings fits in the past but the Kings appear to have exorcised those past demons. "We've had a great year. There's something special about this group. It's got speed, it's got young, hungry players, it has grizzled veterans, and a stud goaltender from my home town (The Steel City). It's a special team." said GM Nathan Kopsack. "We're looking forward to the next round. "
"It's not getting any easier for us." said GM Kopsack. "Anaheim is a great squad. They have great management and he's a very nice looking gentlemen, if I may say so. To get past an organization like that is a huge accomplishment but it's not close to over. We now have to face the Vancouver Canucks. We all saw what they did in the regular season. We have another well built franchise to compete with. We'll have our hands full, for sure." concluded Kopsack.
