Donut look; Kuemper & Caps enjoy 3-Game Shutout Streak

Don’t look now, but Darcy Kuemper is on the verge on joining some elite company on the leagues all-time longest shutout sequences list. Kuemper is riding 3-game shutout streak with wins over the Ottawa Senators (1-0, day 129), New Jersey Devils (4-0, day 131), and Montreal Canadiens (1-0, day 132) and has not allowed a goal in 207 minutes, 24 seconds.
The jokes and high spirits carried over on Good Friday at an optional team skate attended by friends and families of the players. Kuemper was dubbed the “donut man” on a day that was sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts and included a limited edition donut featuring his number 35 in team colors.
For his part, Kuemper declined to indulge in one of the tasty treats due to strict dietary restrictions but he insisted that his wife and children were “big fans”.
Kuemper will look to extend his shutout streak on Saturday night when the Capitals (33-34-6) play host to the New York Rangers (34-36-4). While the Caps are all but mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture, the team is heating up of late and sports a 7-2-1 record in their last 10 games. With a win on Saturday night, the Capitals would hit the 500-mark for the first time all season.
