Depending how the next week and a half goes, the Avs could be looking at some more trades. We're going to wait and see before making any moves in the immediacy but are putting this block out in case anyone wants to begin dialogue now and reassess where we are in the days/hours leading up to the deadline.
Ryan Suter, D
If you are serious about a deep playoff run, Ryan is your guy. A 2 time Cup champion, 4 times he has played in a cup finals and been an integral part of each run. When we won the 2020 Cup, he was 2nd in team scoring with 24 points in 21 games (1 less point than Crosby). He has always been a big time player for us and we know what he can bring to a playoff team. He is a rental and yes he is 37 but he is also the type of player who will bring the edge (79 CK and 54 FG) and play a responsible two way game (78 PH, 77 PA, 72 SC and 83!! DF). He will be the difference maker in a close playoff series. We need a quality future asset for him.
Kyle Okposo, RW
Veterans win in the playoffs and this seasoned vet has a cup ring and a skill set that would allow you to play him up and down the lineup in various roles. His 83 SC/82 PH/82 PA can give a top 6 jolt while his 79 DF allows him to kill penalties. He's a jack of all trades and has another year at a reasonable cap hit so you'd get two playoff runs out of him. We'd be interested in futures.
Conor Garland, W
He's a playmaker (81 PH, 81 PA, 78 SC) with speed (84 SK) to burn and skill to boost a top 6. Just 26 years old, Conor is entering his prime and might have another NHL rerate in him. His best hockey was played with Rick Tocchet as his coach in Arizona and the two are reunited in Vancouver.
Cal Clutterbuck, RW
He is the prototypical bottom six warrior every Cup contender needs. He's gritty (81 CK), and can kill a penalty (77 DF). A UFA to be, he's a terrific rental for a playoff team.
We are more willing to trade this year than we have in years past, so while these are the names listed, we are open to discussing others.
The only real untouchables are Crosby and Dahlin. But if you're asking about someone not listed like Adam Fox, come prepared to back up the Brinks truck.
