In a turn of fortune that can only be described with single-word exclamations, such as ‘fantastic!’ or, ‘unbelievable!’, the London Patriots have surged from the AsHL basement to near the top of the Eastern Conference on the back of an unlikely hero - rookie goaltender Dereck Baribeau.
Baribeau, who signed a 3-year entry level contract with the Capitals during the off-season, has won his last eight starts in a row, and remains undefeated in his brief professional career. We will just come right out and ask the question on everyone’s mind - can Baribeau become the first goalie to go undefeated for his entire career?
Absolutely not.
Anyways, we still think he’s pretty great, so we caught up with Baribeau on Sunday to ask him just how long he thinks he can keep up his current streak, and his response was incredibly detailed - the stuff of legend:
“I am seeing the puck really good right now, and getting some good bounces, but I can’t score goals,” Baribeau said with a brief pause, “Give credit to the guys in front of me - they are playing good hockey.”
