Raleigh, NC - With the second round of the American Hockey League playoffs finished, the field has been sliced to four teams. The Carolina Panthers will face the Richmond Renegades (NJ) in the third round. The Panthers lost the regular season series 3-2.
After sweeping the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (NYI) in the first round and having a long layoff, the Panthers looked shaky to start the second round. In fact, the only time Carolina was ahead in the series versus the Binghamton Senators (OTT) was at the end of game seven.
"There is no excuse for us this round. Richmond went seven games also, so both of us are in the exact same boat. We are going to go with Tristan Jarry in goal, BUT we are fully confident in both of our goalies," said head coach Willie Desjardins.
Elsewhere in the AHL In the other Conference, Toronto Marlies (TOR) will play the Seattle Thunderbirds (VAN).
