Raleigh, NC. --
The powerful Carolina Panthers were the favourites in their matchup with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. However, that doesn’t mean they were taking the series lightly.
GM Ron Jones, "To be honest, we don’t take anything in the SIM lightly. We have won the Calder Cup before and we know just how difficult it can be. Bridgeport had the talent to push us and to be brutally honest we needed something to take away a bit of the sting of missing the NSHL playoffs."
The stars of the series for the Panthers were Colin White (3-6-9), Phil Di Giuseppi (3-5-8) and goaltender Tristan Jarry. Going into the series some observers weren’t sure which goalie the Panthers were going to go with, but Jarry played every minute and sparkled. He had a sizzling 0.932 Sv% and 2.00 GAA in the four game sweep.
Carolina is the first team to win their ASHL series.
