Hello fans!
Opening night has finally come and gone and it was a night of firsts and fresh faces as the rookie goaltender stole the show. In his professional debut, Phoenix Copley stopped 43 of 44 shots to lead the Wolfpack to a win in their first preseason game. Up front, the top line of Lindberg, Peca and Kosmachuk combined for 5 points on the night and the top pairing defensive unit of Reid McNeill and Scott Harrington combined for 2.
Overall, it was a well played game by the club but Bill Peters still sees some adjustments that could be made. "Obviously, we are ecstatic to see Phoenix (Copley) play like he did", Peters explained. "However, anytime a goalie has to face 44 shots there are things you need to look at to try and get that number down to something a little more manageable."
It seems from our chat with Peters that Skapski will take the crease tonight against the London knights and they will run the same line combinations as they did in the first game. This is mostly because Peters wants to "compare apples to apples". He stated that if the team was going to come out of camp with a #1 goaltender, it would be up to the individual to make that happen. He added "the preseason is going to be an equal opportunity chance for both of these guys to show us why they are the number 1 goalie and that means that each will get the same arrangement of guys to play with".
