The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially dropped their protest. Management announced today that the players and them wanted to move on and put this matter behind them. The Lightning organization was wrong to question the NsHLPA's decisions regarding player assignment and will not doubt them in the future as they know what is best. The Lightning look forward to the upcoming season and focusing on winning the Stanley Cup.

The NsHL Players Association (NsHLPA) has come under further scrutiny fielding formal complaints and charges from the Chicago Blackhawks. The reason for the complaints has not been verified but it seems to be a rule violation on several player bids or contracts. NsHLPA has made no comment on the charges. General Manager of the Blackhawks, Shane Lilge responded by saying it was a small error in paperwork on the NsHLPA side.
