Des Moines , Iowa AP By Ben Dover Mackenzie Blackwood The Iowa Wild will have a bit of a different look with 2 faces heading out, and 3 new members joining the team. Anthony Stolarz and Matt Hunwick were traded to Pittsburgh and LA respectively and MacKenzie Blackwood, Connor Carrick and Brian Strait were added to the Iowa Wild. When asked about the trade deadline from Iowas perspective Iowa GM Dan Ramage had this to say " I feel like we had a very successful deadline, we had an opportunity to add a very solid young goaltender and a pair of defenders. Strait will give us some much needed depth, and Carrick has some upside to him. All and all I really cant complain" All 3 faces were in the lineup against the Louisville Thunder and a couple of them made an impression in there first game. Connor Carrick got his first point as an Iowa Wild when he factored in to the 3-1 goal. The guy of the hour tonight was MacKenzie Blackwood though! He turned aside 29 of 30 shots and was the games first star, not a bad debut if you ask me! Blackwood had this to say after the game " I honestly wasn't expecting to get traded , so that was a little bit of a surprise but when I found out I was heading to Minnesota and to join the Iowa Wild I was excited. They have been an elite team for a few years now and I really want to help the team in whatever way I can. I know I haven't had the best start to my career but this is a game that can I can build on and its nice knowing that the front office believes in me" The Iowa Wild have a day off before they are set to take on the Ontario Reign and when asked who will start that game GM Ramage smiled and said "A goalie" Until next time!
