Below are the important dates for the 2017-2018 NsHL schedule.
November 9th - November 22nd: Pre-Season November 25th: Regular season begins December 24th and 25th: Christmas, No Sim (2 rest days will be done following the sim on December 23rd) February 15th: NsHL & AsHL All-Star Games March 10th: NsHL Trade Deadline April 8th: Last regular season day April 11th: Playoffs Begin May 29th: Last possible playoff date
This year we will be returning to a condensed regular season schedule, as the regular season will be 133 days. This means all teams will have a number of situations where they play 3 consecutive days. That said, I will be doing a rest day following 75% of games (for example, Day 1 through Day 3 will have a rest day after the sim, Day 4 will not).
We will also be returning to our split playoff schedule, which will alternate between conferences each day. There will not be a rest day done in the playoffs until the Cup Finals, which will be played in consecutive days.
Additionally, the playoff format will be changed. We will no longer be following the NHL's current version which sees the top three teams from each division make the playoffs, along with two wild cards. We will be going back to the old format of seeding teams 1 through 8 in each conference based on points, with the division winners earning the 1 and 2 seeds in each conference (1 seed going to the team with more points). Teams will be re-seeded for each round of the playoffs, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed. The division winners will be the 1 and 2 seeds regardless if a non-division winning team has more points.
