The Devils are willing to listen to offers on the 2nd overall pick, or as Cherni calls it 'Nico Hischier'
I'm leaning towards just keeping the pick but I'm listening to offers and would consider moving the pick if I get a deal that includes either A) a goal scorer with term left on his contract who is preferably 28 or younger or B) a really strong package of futures (picks, prospects and/or youth 23 or younger preferably).
I'm also considering trading out of the draft and am willing to consider moving my other picks for picks in future drafts or for other assets.
In addition the following players are potentially available:
Deryk Engelland - excellent depth defenseman who can also play wing and is a good rerate candidate
Andy Greene- Legitimate top three defenseman getting paid peanuts
Matt Greene- True warhorse who is looking for a top six role in what could be his final NsHL season
Patrick Eaves- two more seasons at $2.5 million and can be rerated following a 30+ goal season in the NHL
Marc Methot- Crease clearer whose has paired up with the NHL's best in Erik Karlsson for a few years now
Jamie McGinn- Coming off a 20 goals NsHL season. Excellent top nine forward who can do a little of everything
Colin Wilson- Same as McGinn minus scoring 20 last year but is certainly capable
Thomas Hickey- Bottom pairing powerplay quarterback who is only on the block because youngsters may push him out
Patrick Wiercoich- Same as Hickey. Reliable vet
Jimmy Vesey- Very unlikely to move the NsHL's Calder Cup finalist but willing to listen
Jonas Brodin- Only reason he's on here is there's to many D-men for the spots available. Serious offers only.
Henrik Lundqvist- Likely won't be moved but willing to listen while off-season plans are fluid
Jeff Zatkoff- Excellent option as a #1 in the AsHL or a potential backup in the pros
Chris Terry- Has been qualified. Veteran depth that can pitch in at pro level as a 4th liner
Jordan Schroeder- Speedy winger that should get a chance to play but is buried in Joisey
J.T. Brown- Another rerate candidate who has also been buried in the system
Brandon Manning- Legit bottom pairing, physical defenseman who is highly-skilled at pissing off McDavid
Brendan Woods- He's.... big? I got nothing.
Brian Ferlin- Could still surprise, B's were high on him until he missed most of last two seasons with injuries
Derek Forbort- See Brodin. Legitimate rerate candidate who logged over 20 minutes a game for defensive stalwart Kings in NHL.
What do I need? Goalscorers. A few of them. Could also use a true #2 defenseman and a top four offensive blueliner. May be interested in a younger goalie with starter potential too.
