Los Angeles, Ca.
Los Angeles Kings General Manager Nathan Kopsack made several moves on Monday re-tooling the fledging team. The first deal of the day was struck with the New York Rangers:
New York Rangers were sent veteran defensemen Kris Letang for young defensemen Ville Heinola, John Beecher (prospect), and a TOR 5 2024. "We're excited about the two young players we received in this deal." said GM Nathan Kopsack. "We like Ville on our blueline for a long time and Beecher is a solid young American forward we are happy to have in our mix. He'll compete next year for a NsHL roster spot for sure." said an elated GM.
The Kings also parted ways with star winger Chris Kreider as he was sent to the Boston Bruins in a blockbuster trade that sent Jack Quinn, a TOR 1 2024, and veteran forward Kevin Rooney to the Kings. " Chris has been an integral part of our organization and this was a tough decision." said GM Nathan Kopsack. "However, we are excited about Jack Quinn in our line up and believe this kid has unmatched potential. We wish Chris the best as he goes to compete for the NsHL Cup with Boston."
The Kings also moved winger Pius Suter to the Pittsburgh Penguins for draft selection freeing up roster room to bring up Jack Drury and Pavel Dorofeyev. "They deserve to be in the NsHL. The time is now for these guys." said GM Nathan Kopsack. "We need to re-tool, refresh, and energize our roster with some younger players. We're still going to compete for the Cup." continued Kopsack. "We're just going to do it with a different roster. I'm not done yet." smirked Kopsack.
It is believed that veteran forwards James Van Reimsdyk and Kevin Rooney are both available to teams looking for depth for their rosters.
