--Ottawa Ontario,
The Ottawa Senators have finally selected a new captain. After playing the entire season without a captain last year, the Ottawa Senators have handed the "C" over to Brayden Point. "After watching how Brayden handled himself and led the team, especially during the final stretch before the playoffs, it was clear he is the leader of our team." Coach Paul Maurice said. "Brayden is obviously a great player but what most people don't know about him is that he is also a great leader." GM Nate Hickerson said. The last captain of the Senators was Phil Kessel who served in that role for more than 5 years. "When it was announced in the locker room after this mornings skate, players dog piled Brayden, so it is clear that everyone loves him and supports his as our Captain." Maurice said. Center Chandler Stephenson, who was acquired from rivals Philadelphia along with Brayden Point, was named an alternate captain and defenseman Adam Larsson will serve as the other alternate.
The Senators had some extra pep in their step in this mornings skate with their first preseason game slated to happen later tonight verse the Detroit Red Wings.
