The Vegas Golden Knights picked up 3 veterans over the past few weeks of free agency after missing out on the "top" unrestricted players.
Vegas got a jump start on free agency to address goaltending depth, making a trade to acquire Anton Khudobin for a 6th round pick. Khudobin replaces Anthony Stolarz in Atlantic City. Despite being high on Stolarz after developing him, it was clear that he was deserving of a starting job and went to Montreal on a 1 year deal. Vegas is still in the market for at least one more goalie before the season starts.
The Golden Knights waited until phase 3 to get the players they were targeting. The signings didn't make an aging team any younger, signing the 37 year old T.J. Oshie and 38 year old Alex Goligoski.
Oshie was the main target this offseason, with Vegas needing depth on the wing. Oshie signed a 1 year deal worth 3.25 million.
Goligoski was brought in to solidify the 3rd pairing, giving Calen Addison another year to develop in the minors. Go Go signed a 1 year deal worth 2.25 million.
"We didn't want to risk the future with a long term, lucrative deal on an unrestricted free agent," said the Vegas GM, "We got a pair of veterans who can still perform at a high level."
