Anaheim, CA.- The Anaheim Ducks stink right now and Owner/President/GM Mark Kopsack knows it. Rumors swirling around the GM's office are that he has been in discussions with several teams in an attempt to shake things up, however, nothing has materialized thus far. Although Kopsack would not comment on who, what, when, and where he did tell reporters this morning via phone interview precisely why. "Something just isn't clicking with this team. We cannot find a great deal of consistency and, quite frankly, I am disappointed and confused by it all," Kopsack admitted.
The Duck brass recently brought in players to solidify the bottom six forwards (Stepan, Oshie) and the additions of Kris Russell and Jake Gardiner to the blueline should have the team playing holistically better, however, it has not translated that way at all. "We are playing uninspired hockey right now and we will be shaking things up before the deadline if things continue down this disappointing path, that's a guarantee. By the way, I am not talking about swapping role players and playing fiddle faddle here. I am talking about moving 'high end' players who are not playing to their capabilities. Seriously, something has got to give!"
Kopsack would not confirm nor deny that Adrian Kempe may be one of the players that finds a new destination. "We are not going to mention any names at this point, however, the players not playing up to their abilities know exactly who they are and they better find a way to bring their game up real quick. Or changes will be made, that's a promise," Kopsack concluded.
The Ducks are currently 4 points out of a playoff spot and 8 points out of the 4th seed which is manageable, however, this reporter believes Kopsack may lack the confidence in believing it can happen. Time will tell.
