Stockton, CA-
The Calgary Flames farm team, the Stockton Heat, have steadily risen from the middle of the pack to 2nd overall in the AsHL.
Led by pre-season acquisition Tyson Jost (from Carolina), 2017 1st round pick Timothy Liljegren and 2018 2nd round pick Rasmus Sandin, 2015 5th round pick Joona Koppanen, veteran Justin Dowling and 2014 4th round pick goaltender Ville Husso.
These players have been instrumental in the Heat's rise to 1st in the Western Conference. But it is not just those players, Calgary recently demoted centre Gabe Vilardi to give him more playing time and to get his confidence back. It seems to have succeeded, Gabe has scored 18 points in 11 games. Jost was recalled to the Flames, but the Heat didn't miss a beat by winning 2 games. The Heat added Dominic Turgeon at centre through a trade the Flames made with Minnesota, he's fit in nicely recording an assist in both games.
Making a big difference on defence was the acquisition of UFA's D Otto Leskinen and D Kristians Rubins, they have performed well above what was expected of them.
